So, New Years was a successful blast and a great way to start the new decade. After my mid-life (quarter century) crisis, things are starting to look great. I’m finally starting to keep busy freelancing and having actual work busy days than sit around looking for work days (self promotion is a hard deal). I have a great team mate for life at my side and couldn’t have asked for anyone better.

Our New Years Eve night started with a lovely fancy brick oven pizza dinner at Vino in the Piazza with a few of our friends. After a glass of wine and a low key jazz band, we headed across the street to one of our favorites, El Camino Real for 4 pitchers of margaritas and the company of a couple more friends. After getting tipsy on tequila, we headed back to the den to do shots (good idea? bad idea? didn’t matter..) before we went dancing at The Barbary for Making Time. Once we arrived, we found out all our friends couldn’t get in (which was a bummer) so they went off to PYT while Elizabeth and I stayed. We get in and it was packed as usual. They opened up the 2nd and 3rd floor for the first time and it was okay. We only got to see the 2nd floor, and weren’t quite brave enough to hit the 3rd. We danced and danced until midnight, getting pushed around like you were stuck in the ocean and no matter how much you waved your arms or kicked your feet, you couldn’t move from wherever the waves were taking you… but we were okay with that. As long as we held each other, we didn’t want to be anywhere else. Midnight hit and everyone was screaming. It was very memorable. It started to get really crazy, so we detoured outside and found that our friends were picked up by the owner of PYT and taken on a party bus to the Penthouse Club where the “real” party was.. so we drove to meet them. Valet parking, red carpet walkup, jacket check-in… was the classiest part of the night if you ask me. Our friends were quite excited we joined them and we were quite happy to have found them. We spent the next hour 1/2 making it rain with our 1s and decided to try and hit the Making Time after party. That was a fail.. I was too tired.. So we went to my house and passed out.

It was quite the magical evening and I will always remember it. I can’t wait for the years to come and hope that they get better as they go on. Thank you to all my friends and new friends that i’ve met this year, you have made an amazing year for me. I am so glad we all met and have gotten so close so fast.

And of course, thank you to the lovely and wonderful Elizabeth Marley for giving me one of the best years of my life so far. I will always love you and be there for you in years to come. And I know you’ll be there for me.

So every year for christmas, I usually do everything I can to go down to North Carolina to see my mother. Every year I do, it’s a good and relaxing time. I wasn’t able to go down last year because her and my stepfather decided to come up to Philly to see my newborn niece.

This year, I was able to make it down. I drove down this time and a friend came along for a ride to Raleigh. The ride was long but I enjoyed most of it. I really enjoy driving my car, especially on new tires. :)

Today, Christmas, has been an okay day. Woke up around 10am after a bad nightmare, came downstairs and opened up a couple presents and things were good. Although, it’s been pretty agonizing on my stepfather. He backed up into my car and put a dent in my door (boo), the garage door broke and they couldn’t get their cars out, and he’s kinda getting sick. So it hasn’t been so hot for him. My mother and I tried to go see Sherlock Holmes at 7 but it was packed and sold out by the time we hit the window. So we came back and she made me a banana split and hot chocolate (DELISH!). Now i’m just hanging back on the couch watching Home Alone while my stepfather is making family calls in his snuggie (LOL).

Tomorrow, we’re suppose to go bowling, fix my door, and maybe make another attempt to see Sherlock Holmes. I would ideally like to leave tomorrow afternoon, but my carmate wants more time with her family.. so it looks like i’ll be leaving Sunday morning and getting back to Philly in the evening. Kinda can’t wait to get home and build a blanket fort.

Heres some pics from my stepdad’s new Canon Rebel that I took.

So over dealing with all this snow. It’s been about 3 years since Philly has gotten a bad snow storm. This is the second time I’ve had a car in the city whilst it happened. The first experience was horrible.

I had a ’87 Toyota Corolla and living on 16th/Christian. My car got plowed in it’s parking spot because I waited a tad too long to dig it out, not to mention I didn’t have a shovel, so I had to walk to RiteAid (the most horrible RiteAid in the city) to acquire one.

This year wasn’t so bad.. Mostly because I kept drove a lot during the blizzard which kept a lot of snow/ice off the car. After many failed attempts to do something with my girlfriend on a very snowy Saturday night, the car still held warm and kept the snow off. Most people stared at me with their shovels trying to dig their car out as if I was an owner of a garage. Well… I do live in a house with a garage, but its full of crap, not room for my car. Either way…

Mazda Express still ran during the shit snowstorm. GO ME!

Seems like every christmas season I record a mix. Last year was the infamous XmasEveEve mix which RifRok and I recorded on the 23rd of December. So this year I decided to start early and put out a mix on the 15th of just myself.

Although you might get a treat from me and RifRok and I later on this month. Stay tuned…

Listen for the color of the sky.
Look for the sound of a hummingbird’s wing.
Search the air for the perfume of ice on a hot day.

If you have found these things, you will know!
Do you hear your own heartbeat?
(No.)
Do you hear the grasshopper that is at your feet?

(Old man, how is it that you hear these things?)

Young man, how is it that you do not?

Today I got an awesome cup of coffee from One Shot and it totally woke me up with its spices.
Now I’m sitting in front of 4 photos of Sailor Jerry bottles to make them look perfect with a real bottle sitting next to my cup of coffee. Maybe i’ll attend the bottle after the coffee.
