Seems like every christmas season I record a mix. Last year was the infamous XmasEveEve mix which RifRok and I recorded on the 23rd of December. So this year I decided to start early and put out a mix on the 15th of just myself.

Although you might get a treat from me and RifRok and I later on this month. Stay tuned…

Listen for the color of the sky.
Look for the sound of a hummingbird’s wing.
Search the air for the perfume of ice on a hot day.

If you have found these things, you will know!
Do you hear your own heartbeat?
(No.)
Do you hear the grasshopper that is at your feet?

(Old man, how is it that you hear these things?)

Young man, how is it that you do not?

So after spending a few days getting my portfolio website done, I decided to take a day (or two) to reward myself and startup a new adventure.  This adventure turned out to be Borderlands.  Initially, I picked playing this game so I could play co-op with my room mate, Craig, downstairs over the LAN; but was unsuccessful in trying to connect.  So we both started playing anyway.  We are battling in levels, I am currently winning, but he’s RIGHT behind me.  It’s better this way hence if we ever figure out how to get LAN working, we’ll actually be level grounded.

The game is awesome; the art direction, cell shading, sound… it’s all very lovely.  The blurry line between FPS and RPG is quite fascinating, it dumbs the RPG down a little bit, but it matches the FPS part perfectly.  It’s sort of like Fallout 3 or Bioshock, but with a much more future western twist.  Awesome.

Also, I have not been able to stop playing the “Them Crooked Vultures” album for a few weeks now.  Being a big QotSA fan, this comes as no surprise.  I think my favorite track off the album has to be Mind Eraser, No Chaser followed closely by Bandoliers… which, Bandoliers, really goes with the game I’m playing right now, so it’s creeping up!

Tonight, I’m DJing at PYT, 10pm-2am.  Me and the lovely Elizabeth Marley are spinning tunes of guilt.  Songs I don’t usually play (she’d play them all the time), but it’s a gig and a fun party.
